Extreme Milkshakes (For My Birthday!)

It’s my birthday today! I’m 24 now! I decided since it’s my birthday I’d make my post a bit different today. I actually celebrated my birthday this past weekend instead of today, since I work today and I got the weekend off! I just wanted to show you what I made for myself! I’m not a fan of birthday cake, so instead of that I decided to make extreme milkshakes! Have you heard of them? I discovered them on pinterest. I loved the idea and wanted to make myself one. I also mentioned I was going to cook myself some yummy stuff and I’d share with you what I made and did for my birthday. First of all, I made myself this big birthday breakfast:

It was so easy, but so delicious and healthy! What I made: spinach, monterey jack and bell pepper egg white scramble, fried asparagus, dragon fruit, left-over cold chicken and yogurt with granola and fruit. We went out drinking with friends on friday and saturday and had so much fun! And then of course I made these delicious extreme milkshakes:

Mine is actually a strawberry smoothie (not that it’s much healthier, haha. but I thought I’d try to blend frozen strawberries and milk instead of using strawberry ice-cream! But I made Brett’s a milkshake with chocolate ice-cream). I topped them with belgian waffles you can buy at the grocery store. They’re so good, but I rarely ever get them for myself. I can’t even remember the last time I had them. I just thought I would treat myself!

What you’ll need to make my pink extreme “milkshake” strawberry smoothie:

  • Frozen strawberries
  • Milk
  • Fresh berries (I used raspberries)
  • Long skewer stick
  • Store-bought belgian waffles
  • Sugar crystal candy on a stick
  • Pretty paper straw
  • Sprinkles

How to put it together:

  • Make a thick strawberry smoothie using just strawberries and milk.
  • Melt dark chocolate and drizzle it into the inside of the mason jar with a spoon.
  • Scoop the smoothie into the jar.
  • Top that with a handful of fresh raspberries.
  • Place the waffles on top at an angle, and secure them in place by sticking a long skewer into each one and down into the jar.
  • Stick the pink sugar crystal candy stick into the top.
  • Stick a pretty pink paper straw beside the sugar candy
  • Top with a few sprinkles.

What you’ll need to make the chocolate extreme milkshake:

  • Chocolate ice-cream
  • Long skewer stick
  • Milk
  • 2 donuts of your choice
  • Blue sugar crystal candy on a stick
  • Chocolate bar of your choice (I used caramilk)
  • A blue straw

How to put it together:

  • Mix your milkshake by blending the ice-cream and milk (try to make it pretty thick)
  • Drizzle some chocolate syrup into the jar.
  • Spoon your milkshake into the jar.
  • Top with your 2 donuts and secure with a large skewer.
  • Stick your chocolate bar, sugar crystal candy and straw into the middle of the donuts.
  • Enjoy!

These were delicious and so much fun to eat! We definitely couldn’t eat it all at once, but it was so fun to make them and take pictures of them and then attempt to eat them as best as we could! I had such a great birthday 🙂

I hope you’re all having a great day, and be on the lookout for thursday’s post!
